2021 Distinguished Artist Vicki Adams Willis was inducted into the Dance Collection Danse Hall of Fame in October 2022 along with Michèle Moss and Hannah Stilwell, her co-founders of Calgary’s Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD). Their goal in founding DJD was to ‘keep the spirit of jazz alive’ in the dance medium, rooted in an African aesthetic with swing-based jazz music at its heart.
Willis’ Distinguished Artist award celebrated her extensive influence on the jazz dance medium in Calgary and beyond and recognized her broad and innovative body of choreography and outreach programming at DJD.
