The County of Lac La Biche, Portage College, and the whole community are gearing up to celebrate 13 outstanding Alberta artists June 10 and 11, 2022. The awards are Alberta’s most prestigious recognition of outstanding artistic achievement in the arts and we’re so excited to honour both the 2021 Distinguished Artists and the 2022 Emerging Artists at the long-awaited event.

The 2022 Emerging Artists will receive their awards from Her Honour Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, on Friday June 10 at 7:00 PM in the McGrane Theatre, Portage College.  These awards will be followed by a conversation with the three 2021 Distinguished Artists – Faye HeavyShield, Cheryl Foggo, and Vicki Adams Willis. The Gala Awards event and dinner for the Distinguished Artists takes place from 4:00:-8:30 PM on Saturday June 11, Portage College.

And the community has much more planned for the celebrations including art and puppetry workshops, Art Walk and Market in the Park, plein-air painting – all showcasing the beauty of their landscape and celebrating art, nature and community.
