“Jerome Henry – aka K-Riz – is a wonderfully adept and multifaceted performer, producer, and lyricist blending elements of soul, jazz, pop and reggae. His lyrics speak of hope, beauty, and aspiration and his music is captivating and multidimensional. He is an artist who has something to say and the technical means to communicate it in musically sophisticated and compelling ways.”

His artistic focus centers on creating music that uplifts, reflects, and speaks to the shared human experience. Drawing from his upbringing in Toronto and his journey in Alberta, K-Riz explores themes of identity, resilience, love, and purpose. His work is deeply informed by community, both in its creation and its impact, often involving collaboration with local musicians and creatives. Awarded the Clarence Big Miller Award from National Black Coalition of Canada (2022); Rap Recording of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the YYC Music Awards (2024).
Beyond the stage, K-Riz is committed to mentorship and education, developing programs that encourage youth to find their voice through rhythm, rhyme, and self-expression. His practice is guided by a belief that music can inspire growth, foster understanding, and contribute to a more connected and compassionate world.
I had the opportunity to witness recording sessions for K-Riz’s forthcoming album. Having founded one of Alberta’s largest record labels more than two decades ago, I have spent countless hours in recording studios. I can say without hesitation that I have rarely experienced such a powerful sense of artistic community, cross-genre collaboration, and creative momentum. This project represents an important next chapter in his career, and I am confident it will expand his reach nationally and internationally.
