Canadian soprano Eden Tremayne is recognized for her heartfelt singing and dynamic stage portrayals. For the past three seasons, Ms. Tremayne has been a McPhee Artist with Calgary Opera and was previously featured as an Apprentice Artist with the San Diego Opera and a Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist with Vancouver Opera. Engagements include Achsah in Joshua (Calgary Festival Chorus), Clotilde in Norma (Calgary Opera), Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto (San Diego Opera), soloist for Vaughan Williams’ Dona nobis pacem (La Jolla Symphony and Chorus), Violetta in La Traviata (Jeunesses Musicales du Canada), Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Lucinda in the Canadian premiere of Dark Sisters (Vancouver Opera), and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (Bodhi Tree). Ms. Tremayne has received two Encouragement Awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and has been a two time winner in the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus Young Artist Competition and the Virginia and Susan Hawk Memorial Young Artist Competition. Also a winner in the Johann Strauss Competition in Vancouver, the Musical Merit Foundation of Greater San Diego Competition, the UBC Concerto Competition, the Vancouver Opera Guild Bursary Award, Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques Competition in Montréal, and the Women’s Musical Society Bursary Competition in Vancouver. The soprano received both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Opera Performance degrees from the University of British Columbia.
