A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Heather focuses on development of new Canadian plays. Her recent directing credits include The National Elevator Project, Café Daughter, and The List.
Six of Heather’s productions have been nominated for a total of 12 Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards, including five nominations for Outstanding Independent Production. Heather has received the Edmonton Artists Trust Fund Celebration of Women in the Arts Award twice, and the TELUS Courage to Innovate Award in 2007 at Edmonton’s Mayor’s Evening for the Arts.
Heather was one of a select group of emerging Canadian Directors chosen to attend the Canadian Actor’s Equity’s Master Class at the world Stage Festival with Peter Brooke, Yoshi Oida, Polly Teal, Flora Lauten, and Phillida Lloyd. And in 2012 was invited to master classes at The Magnetic North Theatre Festival with James Yonker of Stan’s Café of Birmingham, England.
Described by Vue Magazine as “one of Edmonton’s most fearless directors,” Heather is also founder of the independent theatre company, Theatre Yes, dedicated to producing intelligent theatre for adventurous audiences. Theatre Yes will be taking its Elevator Plays to the Magnetic North Festival in 2014.
